( project 03. ) dena, German Energy Agency
At dena I was communications expert for digital technologies and networks. I led the project that built the Future Energy Lab, a lab and coworking hub in Berlin where startups, researchers and the energy industry test digital technology for the energy transition, and I started its magazine and its podcast.

The brief
The digital energy transition needs startups, grid operators, researchers and government to work together, and they rarely meet. dena wanted a physical place for that, and a way to tell the outside world what was happening inside it.
The Future Energy Lab now sits in Berlin's Wegelystraße, in the courtyard of KPM, with a digital studio, an open coworking floor and a meeting lounge. Its community is open to anyone working on the digitalisation of the energy sector.
The hard part
Regulation, grids, AI, blockchain, hydrogen: the digital energy transition is complicated on every level.
I put storytelling first. The magazine and the podcast follow the startups that are moving the needle on net zero and let their founders explain the technology in their own words. People who would never read a regulation can follow a founder's story.
